  1. Employment Act 1955 (Act 265) is an Act of the Parliament of Malaysia which was first enacted in 1955, mainly relating to employment. The Act came into force from June 1, 1957 and is only applicable to Peninsular Malaysia and Federal Territory of Labuan only.

    The Act is the main labor law which regulates the relations between employers and employees in any agricultural or industrial undertaking, constructional work, statutory body, local government authority, trade, business or place of work. It provides for the minimum standards of employment and rights for workers. The Act is applicable to workers engaged in non-manual labour whose wages per month do not exceed RM2,000 and workers engaged in manual labour irrespective of the amount of wages they earn in a month.

Akta Kerja 1955 (Akta 265) merupakan undang-undang buruh utama yang dikuatkuasakan di Semenanjung Malaysia dan Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan yang mengawal hubungan antara majikan dan pekerja di sektor swasta. Ia mengandungi peruntukan mengenai hak-hak pekerja dan standard-standard minimum penggajian. Akta ini memberi perlindungan kepada pekerja-pekerja bukan manual yang bergaji tidak melebihi RM2,000 sebulan dan pekerja-pekerja manual tanpa had gaji.
