master title

Legal Definition of master title

Noun

  1. A title used by a property developer for recording a development on a particular land where the developer is the rightful land owner. The master title is recorded in the land registration office where the property is located. Generally, the developer then divides the single property on the land into individually owned units to purchasers and thus the master title will be divided into multiple smaller titles depending on the type of property being constructed such as "individual title" for landed properties or "strata title" for high rise properties.
